Research Digitalization Leader (100%)

Job description

This interdisciplinary position plays a pivotal role in driving the digital transformation of our research engine to DARPin based therapeutics, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge technologies to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and innovation within the research and development (R&D) teams. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of biotechnology, digitalization trends, and a proven track record of implementing digital solutions in a research-intensive environment.

 

Digital Strategy and Implementation Plan:

  • Collaborate with our research, IT, Digitalization Circle, and data science teams to refine our digitalization strategy, incorporating and leveraging machine learning and generative AI to advance research workflows and accelerate scientific discovery.
  • Develop - in collaboration with different stakeholders -an implementation plan, starting with a few achievable projects with notable advantages for employees and company.
  • Take the lead in building the necessary underlaying data architecture as source, enabling digitalization efforts.
  • Translation of digital strategy initiatives and respective return for company into form allowing management team to make investment decisions.

Data Management Analytics:

  • Implement advanced data analysis solutions machine learning algorithms for data analysis and pattern recognition to derive valuable insights from large dataset and facilitate data-driven decision making and hypothesis generation.
  • Establish robust data management practices to ensure the quality, security, and accessibility of research data. 

Workflow Optimization:

  • Identify opportunities to optimize research workflows, automate routine tasks, and accelerate data analysis.
  • Integrate generative AI approaches to facilitate the design and discovery of new biological entities, compounds, or materials.

Collaboration and Training:

  • Foster interdisciplinary collaboration between research scientists, IT professionals, and data scientists to leverage the use of digital tools, knowledge sharing and cross-functional teamwork.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to empower researchers with the necessary skills to leverage digital tools effectively.

Technology Implementation:

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies, tools, and platforms that enhance data collection, analysis, and data-driven decision-making predictive modeling.
  • Oversee the integration of laboratory information management systems (LIMS), electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN), and other digital tools to streamline research processes.

Compliance and Security:

  • Ensure that digitalization initiatives comply with relevant industry regulations and data security standards.
  • Implement and enforce best practices for data integrity, privacy, and confidentiality in alignment with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

 

• Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant scientific discipline (biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, Digital Sciences, IT, etc.).

• Proven experience (10+ years) in a similar role within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

• Ability to develop strategies and setting bold visions, linked to the perseverance and dedication to see through the implementation.

• Experience in implementing machine learning and generative AI solutions in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical research environment.

• In-depth knowledge of biotechnology research processes (drug development, lead generation, clinical research, etc.) and digital technologies.

• Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully leading digitalization initiatives.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards in the biotech industry.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to experts and stakeholders at all levels.
