Accounting Manager (80-100%)

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accounting Manager to join our Finance team. This role will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of the Company’s financial reporting and accounting operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, detail-oriented professional with strong accounting skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting;
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses, ensuring compliance with internal policies, Swiss GAAP and IFRS;
  • Support the preparation of financial statements, management reporting packages, and audit-ready documentation;
  • Work closely together with the accounting staff, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development support;
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls;
  • Partner with the SOX team to ensure controls are operating effectively within key accounting processes;
  • Support external audits, including preparation of audit schedules, responses to auditor inquiries, and remediation of identified issues;
  • Contribute to system improvements, automation initiatives, and process optimization to enhance efficiency and scalability;
  • Assist with technical accounting research and the implementation of new accounting standards as needed;
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices across all accounting activities;
  • Participate in special projects, financial analyses, and ad-hoc reporting as requested.
  • Review of VAT entries to ensure compliance with current regulations and preparation of VAT submissions to authorities.

Requirements

  • Relevant education achievements within accounting such as an education as a Finance and Accounting Specialist  a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, CPA or equivalent certification (e.g. Sachbearbeiter:in Rechnungswesen; Fachausweis Rechnungswesen; CAS/DAS Accounting/Controlling) is a plus;
  • 6-8 years (Manager) or 8+ years (Senior Manager) of progressive accounting experience. Experience with pharma/biotech is a plus;
    Good understanding of Swiss GAAP FER and/or IFRS and internal control frameworks;
  • Experience managing or supporting month-end close processes and financial statement preparation;
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving capabilities;
    Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and reporting tools such as Power BI and Workiva is beneficial;
  • Proficiency in English (oral/written) is required; German/Swiss German is a big asset.
