Information about Molecular Partners AG

Founded in 2004 by a group of PhD students as a spin-off from the University of Zurich, Molecular Partners AG is a thriving and steadily growing clinical stage biotech company located in Zurich-Schlieren (Switzerland) with 200 highly qualified employees. In order to advance modern medicine and significantly improve the management of serious diseases, we have developed and successfully established a powerful new class of potent, specific and versatile small protein therapies, called DARPin therapeutics. The continuous development of a broad portfolio of therapeutic product candidates in oncology, virology and ophthalmology based on the company’s proprietary DARPin platform allowed a successful listing of the company on the SIX Swiss Exchange and Nasdaq (ticker: MOLN). Next to our own pipeline of drug candidates we have entered into collaborations with leading international pharmaceutical companies, including AbbVie, Amgen and Novartis. The highly dedicated, multi-disciplined team at MP is committed to developing breakthrough medicines for serious diseases.

This individual will design and execute workflows for analysis, statistical modeling and the generation of hypotheses from high-dimensional molecular profiling data to identify and validate targets in tumor types with high unmet medical need, identify indications and patient subsets for drug candidates and biomarkers for selecting patients and assessing drug action.

This challenging and diverse position will include the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Integrate diverse data sources (e.g., patient mutation, proteome and transcriptome profiling, functional genomic screens) to identify new cancer targets for defined patient populations for the application of DARPin therapeutics;
  • Collaborate with laboratory and in vivo scientists to design, analyze, and interpret experiments to validate targets, understand compound mechanism of action, and identify biomarkers for patient selection and target engagement;
  • Design and execute a strategy for the generation of omics data from clinical studies, including vendor outreach;
  • Support clinical development teams with data analysis and interpretation during early clinical trials;
  • Gather, curate and process publicly available datasets;
  • Develop and implement analysis pipelines for omics data analysis and biomarker identification;
  • Stay at the forefront of the field by benchmarking and implementing new omics analysis and AI methods.

For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated individual bringing along:

  • Ph.D. in computational, statistical, biology, physics, bioinformatics, or a related field with emphasis on biological data analysis;
  • 3+ years of experience in immune oncology genomics data analysis;
  • Good understanding of cancer biology and immunology;
  • Experience with standard methods for bioinformatic data analysis and reference datasets (oncology) for bulk, single cell and spatial gene expression, mutations, and related platforms;
  • Proficiency in R or Python;
  • Good knowledge of statistics and basic knowledge of machine learning algorithms;
  • Experience with primary processing pipelines and with cloud computing platforms would be an advantage;
